Maintenance Manager (Mechanical)

Responsibilities:
- Direct engineering consultants, contractors, and international suppliers from design to commissioning
- Read and approve technical drawings and participate in engineering reviews
- Check tolerances, BOQs/BOMs, and transfer design to manufacturers via consultants
- Compute utility, grade requirements, and material stress factors for design specifications
- Coordinate with suppliers to develop specifications and select equipment
- Provide risk analysis and mitigation strategies for unexpected developments
- Supervise mechanical and fluid work progress including steelwork, plumbing, piping, and testing
- Report to Maintenance Head and update on all project developments
- Review design, H&S, and environmental conditions to identify and resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with work permits, CPCB, and H&S regulations
- Collect and audit data to produce technical reports and recommendations
- Evaluate complex problems and suggest trade-offs or compromises
- Prepare purchase requisitions with BOMs, drawings, and specifications
- Review contractor schedules, assist in planning, and advise on critical activities
- Record changes, variation orders, and analyse claims from suppliers and contractors
- Visit suppliers for design reviews and reporting
- Collaborate with Civil Engineers for layout and reference point establishment
- Liaise with consultants to prepare method statements and operation manuals
- Post-commissioning, prepare operating procedures, support maintenance, and resolve malfunctions
- Maintain snagging lists and propose resolutions
- Ensure documentation (drawings, BOMs) is updated with contractor modifications
- Deliver presentations explaining machine operations and key design parameters
- Suggest improvements to project efficiency
Qualification:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 12 years in mechanical design and construction of heavy industry (preferably metals or aluminium extrusion)
- Experience in major engineering projects (> $30M)
- Strong understanding of mechanical maintenance systems, hydraulics, water treatment, piping, valves, and pump design
- Knowledge of international/local codes and regulations (BS, EN, CPCB, H&S)
- Experience in estimation, engineering, and site supervision of heavy mechanical equipment
- Familiarity with FEA analysis
Skills:
- Proficient in Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Office, MS Project, and PLCs
- Strong planning, prioritization, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects
